Erick Montes/Danceable Projects
Danceable Projects is a dance-oriented space where exploration, generation, and research happen through collaboration.
Since 2004, I have gathered with artists from several disciplines to practice together with an embodied form. We rehearse repertory work or teach for educational outreach programming in coordination with artistic institutions and cultural organizations, to lecture, curate, or develop an interdisciplinary project towards performance.
The use of diverse knowledge and mediums is important to me, not only aesthetically and philosophically, but also practically and technologically, so that our productions can encompass a universal voice that focuses on inclusiveness regarding the topics constantly reshaping our contemporary world, the ever-changing universe, and the human experience.
Danceable Projects has been enlightened by collaborations with internationally renowned artists such as Twin Shadow, Sam Crawford, Winnie Bennett, Joo Won Park, Karla Carballar, Daniel Zero Waste, Thomas Warnke, Arantxa Araujo, Sara Kostic, Miriam Parker, Geraldine Cardiel, and Bernardo Gasparini.
The dancers and movement artists in each original production, includes the presence of outstanding performers including Orlando Zane Hunter Jr., Mark Schmidt, Beaudau Banks, Elizabeth Hepp, and Kailey McCrudden, Zoe Allocco, Zach L. Denison, Jennifer Rose, Chritina Jane Robson, Emma Pejewsky, Cassandra Cotta, Jorge Ronzon, Guillermo IV Obele, Oscar Michel Perez Maldonado, Ana Paula Oropeza and Mei Yamanaka.
