About Erick Montes, (he/el)
Erick is the Artistic Director of Danceable Projects in New York, a choreographer, and an interdisciplinary artist. He obtained an MFA in Dance from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. USA, and graduated from the National School of Classical and Contemporary Dance of INBAL in Mexico. His research explores the interaction between memory and representation in the context of dance aesthetics. His dance, practice, and training are deeply influenced by the aesthetics of the American choreographer Bill T. Jones, with whom he collaborated for thirteen years as a leading dancer, and the pedagogy of the late Mexican choreographer, the celebrated professor Luis Fandiño (Mexico City, 1931-2021). He has also had the opportunity to dance in works by renowned Mexican choreographers of the international scene, including Alicia Sanchez, José Rivera, Raúl Parrao, Raùl Flores Canelo, Laura Rocha, Francisco Illescas, Duane Cochran, Lourdes Luna, Juan Manuel Ramos, Cecilia Lugo, and Gregorio Trejo. In the United States, Stephen Petronio, Bill Young, Colleen Thomas, Yara Travieso, Yin Mei, Malcolm Low, and Yebel Gallegos, among many others.
